Mercedes Benz system uses aromatherapy and soft music to encourage drivers to take a power nap.

Mercedes-Benz is developing a car that will help put drivers to sleep.

The company’s “Active Comfort” system uses aromatherapy, lighting and soft music to help a driver to nod off quickly if they pull over to take a power nap.

The system was developed with long-haul truck drivers in mind, but the company says it will be rolled out to its passenger car range in the future. The techniques can also be used to keep drivers awake while they’re behind the wheel.

Toyota approves PPG clearcoat

When taking the gloss off something isn’t a bad thing – PPG’s new clearcoat can now adorn the Lexus LFA super sport car in a subtle matt.

Toyota has released global approval for new clearcoat technology from PPG, the approved PPG clearcoats (including the D8113 Matt Clearcoat) are the first to pass Toyota’s rigorous specification criteria for the exclusive car’s signature matt black finish.
